Recall how as kids we often saw in our mind's eye growing adult yesterday and imagined being dressed like our parents in trousers/sari. Wasn’t it exciting to adapt our baby imagination to building houses of mud and sand or playing with toy cooking utensils? Today most of us want to go back to the magical memories of childhood. This is how mind’s eye (Imagination) flies and rarely remains steady. Mind's eye is an art of developing new ideas by making gainful use of our imagine energy. It is an in built ‘get-up-and-go’ force that we carry from our birth. It helps to take appropriate steps to convert and implement our inventive ideas. From rubbing stones to producing fire, from Newton’s laws of motion to finding water droplets on moon, to   mobile internet, attempts at creating an artificial brain are just few creations of our mysterious and inventive mind. Unfortunately some have misused the power of mind's eye to rapes, murders, crimes of all sorts etc. It is true that not all observations and dreams change to reality but surely makes a base and develops a temper to think and imagine creatively. Sometimes dreams spark our imagination and provide us a vision and hope. For instance

Recollect our first few weeks in collage when we were bubbling with passion and eager to go on a date. A night before possibly we couldn’t sleep because our mind’s eye did not stop visualizing and thinking all the time our proposed date that had taken our breath away. We possibly were juggling to say    ‘I’ve been obsessed with you since I first saw you on the bus.’

This is possible provided we are serious and use our power of attentiveness. Dreaming creates a base and empowering thoughts help inspiring ‘Wings’ to accomplish our goals. It is a powerful coping tool that helps recharge both body and mind and influences our thinking patterns.  As Muhammad Ali once said, “The man who has no imagination has no wings.”

As we grow up, our mind starts oscillating between work challenges, desires, and thinking future. We usually have a ‘run of the mill’ approach to our lives and it slowly turns us mentally wreck and life appears fogy.   We are forced to play a see- saw game every now and then. At times we are frustrated watching our thoughts going up and down like an ECG. One moment we are highly charged, motivated and gearing up to go while the next moment we are sad and de-motivated. Sometimes we feel like on the top of the hill while at other times we go in to a deep shell. We fly on our mind's eye with unlimited speed. We can imagine and visualize anything we like. One moment our mind is in Rishikesh (India) among saints, the next moment within seconds it is in Kailua Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii,   visualizing beautiful blonds in their bikinis taking a swim. Someone has rightly said ‘Imagination is the workshop of creation’. Inspiring and crafting our ‘Wings,’ I feel is an avid fire burning within us to create something that only we can patent.  It generates some power internally to motivate us to keep   ‘focus on the road, not on the wall’. Do become over-enthusiastic at times; have a push for doing something exceptional. Get driven by our acute aspiration and craving to prove our self.

Tips for Inspiring Wings

Nature has blessed our mind with unlimited potential and power, a base for creative mental picture. Unfortunately, most are caught between two worlds — the outer world- negative mind-sets like hatred, jealousy etc. and the inner world – excess desires and aspirations etc. Positive self-talk helps give power to the mind’s eye. It is one's choice to recharge or to allow life to remain stagnant. Positive thoughts and ideas energize mind to empowerment. No doubt mind’s eye generates passion and a strong emotional connect towards our ‘Wings’. Do we like to become a ‘Spanish Armada’ and get amuck with the possibilities that can occur in our life? Or do we shut down the minute we start thinking of exciting possibilities? Choice is ours?

1 As part of daily routine, spare some time and focus mind’s eye and senses to charming imagery pictures like the sound of running water, bird chirping, cool breeze whistling, and temple bells ringing and chanting of prayers.  Visualize being in a music concert and listening to the melody of ‘Tabla’ (Indian drum) and ‘Sitar’. Watching nature helps make mind's eye powerful and also soothes the body and mind nerves.

2 An open and flexible mind free from mundane daily natty- gritty, worries, fears of future, and negativities energizes and prepares a base for imagination. It helps transform thoughts and vision to new life parameters.

3 See through the mind's eye, pictures of success and accomplishments. For instance, while planning for promotion to higher job, it is always beneficial to imagine our self in the new position, how it would be and what all we have to perform and often success follows. Similarly imagine we have half an hour to priorities wishes before death, what would be on top of our mind and why?

4 While working on life goals, prepare the mind-set for any result- success/ failure. Try developing   power of thoughts and mental picture skills. These may help in reducing anxiety levels as we close on to our goals.  For visualization, replace the anxieties with an image of relaxation mentally and use positive affirmation-

“No problems. I am pretty confident and I am going to sail through no matter what happens.”

5 Observe regularly immediate surroundings, people, their behavior, expressions, and emotions. It will be interesting to write down experiences and make these as the base to develop ideas.

6 Try inspiring ‘Wings’ by looking at things in different perspectives. Inventive imagination requires greater amount of perseverance, patience, time and a searching mind. Look from different perspectives while developing new ideas, methods or improving the existing processes. For instance,

Housewife may try and cook new variety of dishes using a new mix of Masala (spices) and it may turn out to be a successful attempt.

7 While developing idea, try various options, variations and arrangements to take the initiative further. Some alternatives may appear general to begin with. Once on the right track, mundane ideas get discarded. Remember inspiring ‘Wings’ always begins with general ideas/ thoughts before these materialize in to concrete out puts.

8 Regular practices, an inquisitive mind and thoughts are the basis for inspiring and mounting ‘Wings’. Resourcefulness generates positive mind energy and keeps it productive. Once determined to solving problems through inventive mind's eye, our subconscious mind is activated and helps.

9 Make inspired imagination as a way of life by self designing home interiors and take it from there. Be an inventive thought’s mentor and a motivator for our office team/family.

10 Developing passion for inspiring ‘Wings’ is all about initiating and creating commitment. It’s an association built over time with our thoughts and feelings. For example,

Most youngsters have a passion for Coke Cola, not because of its advertisements, but because the company appeals to a mainstay audience in a way that strengthens their passion and possibly they feel as if things go better with Coke.

The striking facet about our ‘Wings’ is that we are in direct control of our performance, standards, philosophy and ethos. We do require mindful thought, inspiration and a great starting point to recognize where our true passion and intent reside. As Mark Twain said, “You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”
