                       Won’t Come Easy

I feel the following quote is a reminder to all those who look for shortcuts in life to achieve their family/professional goals. It is also an inspiration to all the have-nots who keep working hard for accomplishing their cherished aspirations. But often talk to their mind’s eye why existence in their case plays seek and hide. They often regret that living is never smooth as it is for those who stay in palatial houses and drive swanky cars. I do visualize the thoughts they undergo day in and day out as to “why the hell I am not lucky enough to shorten my wait, get rid of hurdles and hunger”. When on road to accomplishing objectives, we often feel is it really worth to endlessly wait to achieve the purpose?

From times immemorial most people continue to be hungry and keen for instant satisfaction and fulfilment if possible yesterday. Whether they deserve, be praiseworthy or not, they try all the tricks of the trade to crave for their interests/happiness to be taken care of fast without facing any hardships/ obstacles. Their promoters purposely keep quiet and often are secretive. Some of us marry our children in rich families for pseudo satisfaction and instant happiness. Betting/gambling/ black marketing and hording etc., is all about instant gratification and more often short lived. Take for instance teenage/adult relationships, these often come to an end if these are an outcome of infatuation that happens instantly on the first meeting or so. Look at the irony of our being, when success comes our way easily, we rarely look up to it apparently we have neither slogged for it nor undergone failures. Yes by using dishonest means in accomplishing our goals, we may make money and fake and pretend success. But do we relish and admire it? What about our consciousness, and awareness. What about perception of our friends/colleagues/ family. People, who want to go with the flow, feel gratifying to say yes to everything at the cost of their consciousness. They look to their instant success in career forgetting whether it will bring any satisfaction in the long run or not. The core and premise always remains that instant satisfaction unfortunately does not last long. Infect the countdown of reverses usually starts soon.

It is very common in organizations when some of us while working play politics behind the door to get instant gratifications and usually want to be seen as politically correct. Well often in practice saying no may be taken as insubordination but in the long perspective isn’t it better to look at pros and cons before nodding our head. At times I agree it is a catch 22 situation possibly affecting our truthfulness and reliability. Herbert Bayard Swope, the first and three-time recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for reporting said once “I can't give you a sure fire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: Try to please everybody all the time. ”As it is said "There are no shortcuts to any place worth going." In the corporate world, those who climb the career ladder fast by greasing the palms of power centers usually are short lived. Often people, who use shortcuts, lack relevant experience, knowledge and conduct, find it difficult to hold on and deliver on the expectations. Such individuals are often ridiculed and become matter of gossips by their peers/ subordinates and are over and over again short lived in the organization.

Remember the good old moral ‘Slow and steady wins the race’ from the famous story of ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ we all have grown with since KG classes. Quickly jumping promotional ranks in the organization or something else can not only cause problems; but may not last long as explained in above part. It is always a steady approach, even if it is slower, is undoubtedly ideal and gives better and lasting results.

I feel the following lines should act as a motto for all those who have to slog and fight with consistent hurdles/failures reroute to achieve their life objectives.

"When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

Don't give up though the pace seems slow

You may succeed with another blow.

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are -

It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -

 It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit."

Reactivate Yourself

Remember achieving our goal in any sphere of our life has always to be permanent and long term no matter the enormous difficulties / struggles/ long term wait we undergo in the process .It neither severs imperfection nor it makes us less valuable. It is just a temporary phase of being that may leave us at tines feeling helpless, unhappy and alienated. No one, including great leaders, scientists, administrators and business leaders etc. have shadowed away from it. In fact, their difficulties and endless wait to achieve became an aurora of power and a resolution to have stable and permanent solutions. The might of endless wait often appears like a night shelter en route to our destination. It is an opportunity to realize a lost dream and to revamp and renovate before we find ourselves at the commencement of a new, dense and robust journey. An endless wait makes us mentally stronger to understand that ‘what lasts long, won’t come easy.’ Let us grow a little longer in life. It is a legacy of our past that took place yesterday. So, why sit worrying and moaning? Today is a new dawn and sunrise that has enshrined us with new hope and vigor.

I would like readers to ponder on two situations- one of a person who has achieved success through hard work and with persistence and determination over a long period of time; and the other of a person who has achieved quick success without slogging for it. And decide for yourself which person will have an inspiring effect.
